Built during the 1830's, Bordesley Hall was the main house for the
Bordesley estate, which dates back to the Domesday Book. After 1830 parts of
the estate were sold off until only Bordesley Hall and about 20
acres of the park still remained. The Patrick family (of Patrick Motors
Ltd) bought it in the early 1900's and in 1942 BCIRA (British Cast Iron
Research Association) purchased the hall to set up offices and laboratories.
During the 1990's, as demand for cast iron diminished BCIRA started letting out offices at Bordesley Hall, until in 1996 over 60% of Bordesley Hall was occupied by tenants. In 1996 BCIRA merged with Castings Technology International. Following the merger, more of the core business was moved to our other site in Sheffield and more of Bordesley Hall was let to tenants. Now the hall has over 40 tenants who occupy 95% of the site and the hall has become a business park.
